GM Recalling 217K Vehicles For Transmission Oil Leak

General Motors has announced that they are recalling more than 217,000 vehicles in the United States and Canada due to a transmission oil can leak.

This recall covers several GM vehicles of different makes and models. According to ABC News, the issue comes from a transmission oil can leak. The leak could lead to the vehicle to stop moving, or in some cases, it could cause fires. GM says that the cause of the leak comes from two bolts that may be missing from the stop-start mechanism. These missing bolts are responsible for the leak in the transmission oil can.

As of this writing, there have been no reports of crashes, fires, or injuries.

ABC News reports that this recall should start around December 14th. Owners of the aforementioned vehicles will be notified by local dealers. From there, dealers will inspect the mechanism and replace the bolts if they are missing from the vehicle. So be on the lookout for something in the mail about the recall, or a call from your dealership so that you can get the issue resolved in your vehicle.
