Evansville’s Fraud Case Turns Into $11,000 For Youth Programs
Fraud Case Turns Into Funding for a Good Cause in Evansville
Sometimes, a bad situation can lead to something really good and that’s exactly what just happened here locally. The Evansville community is left with feel good smiles. Diana Moers, the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor, recently presented a donation of just over $11,000 to Youth Resources of Southwestern Indiana.
And here’s the interesting part this money didn’t come from a fundraiser or grant. It came from the outcome of a fraud case.
How It Happened
In the case, the defendant was ordered to pay more than $57,000 in restitution. Instead of that money just disappearing into the system, it’s being put to good use.
The Prosecutor’s Office selected five local nonprofits to receive an equal share and Youth Resources was one of them.
Investing in the Next Generation
If you’re not familiar, Youth Resources of Southwestern Indiana is all about helping young people in our community step up and succeed. They run programs like the Teen Advisory Council and Teen Court, giving local teens real opportunities to lead, serve, and make an impact.
Turning a Negative Into a Positive
It’s one of those stories that reminds younsomething negative can still lead to positive change.
In this case, money tied to a fraud situation is now going right back into the community… helping shape the next generation of leaders here in the Tri-State.
And that’s a pretty great outcome.
