If you are a mac and cheese lover, then you will want to visit this Indiana restaurant.

We all have our favorite restaurants to dine at in Indiana. There are so many options to choose from. Whether it be chain restaurants or local businesses, there are no shortages of great food here in Indiana. At many of these restaurants, one of the most popular side dishes is mac and cheese. I mean, let's face it, mac and cheese is pretty much one of the best comfort foods there is. Name a better duo than that. Growing up, I ate so much mac and cheese that my parents constantly told me that I was going to turn into mac and cheese. That has yet to happen, but there's still time.

Speaking of mac and cheese, the food website, LoveFood, recently compiled a list of the best mac and cheese in each state. Some of these take mac and cheese to the extreme with their own unique twists on the dish. You'll see some loaded with truffle, lobster tail, or barbecued meats. All of which sound delicious in their own right. But let's take a look at the restaurant that is said to have the best mac and cheese in Indiana.

The Best Mac and Cheese in Indiana

According to LoveFood, the restaurant that serves the best mac and cheese in Indiana is The Eagle in Indianapolis. What makes their mac and cheese stand out among the others?

Here's what LoveFood says:

The five-cheese Mac &amp; Cheese with garlic breadcrumbs at rustic restaurant <a href="https://www.eaglerestaurant.com/" target="_blank">The Eagle</a> might be a side dish, but <a href="https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-eagle-indianapolis-13?hrid=juKX-P0VHOuNJ3iRLxsqig&amp;utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&amp;utm_medium=copy_link&amp;utm_source=(direct)" target="_blank">customers rave about it</a>. The big portion comes served in a skillet overflowing with creamy sauce, and you can add shrimp or fried chicken on top.

Now, I have not been to The Eagle myself to confirm this. I do know that there are several great restaurants throughout the state that serve up some delicious mac and cheese too. So while LoveFood says that this is the best, we must remember that it's all subjective. Each of us has our own taste when it comes to food. However, if The Eagle's mac and cheese has such high praise, the next time that I am in Indianapolis, I'll definitely be giving this a try.

KEEP READING: 40 Real Indiana Towns with Quirky, Weird, and Funny Names

Outside the major cities, the Hoosier state is full of tiny little towns you've probably passed through on your way to one of those cities. Most of them are likely 100 to 150 years old, or older, and have been around far longer than the large metropolitan areas such as Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, South Bend, and Evansville. Typically, they were started by early settlers who found their way to the state and decided to make it home. Eventually, others would join them, and a community was formed. Over time, as the surrounding areas grew, most of them were folded into those areas and governed by the nearest city or county's governing body officially making them "unincorporated," meaning they did not have their own formally organized municipal government.

A scroll through Wikipedia's long list of unincorporated communities in Indiana shows several of them have names that by today's standards would be considered weird, quirky, or just downright right funny. These are my 40 favorities.
