After guiding the Southridge Raiders to a victory over previously undefeated North Harrison in the opening round of the Class 3A Sectional, Coach Scott Buening receives the honor of being the Indianapolis Colts High School Football Coach of the Week from team owner, Jim Irsay.

Buening isn't the first coach from the area to receive the award this season. Gibson Southern Coach, Nick Hart was given the nod after his team's 42-13 victory over Heritage Hills in week six.

The award is a partnership between the Colts and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield with a different coach receiving the honor each week of the high school football season. Winners are selected by a panel of high school football media, former athletic directors, and other football representatives from all regions of the state, according to the Colts website.

Each recipient of the award gets recognized at a Colts practice visit, an on-field ceremony during a Colts home game at Lucas Oil Stadium, plus a $2,000 donation from the team for their school’s football program.

Congrats coach!
