What is SPAM?

Before spam was the word for junk emails, spam was mostly known for being a popular canned meat.  To be totally honest with you, when I was a kid I loved SPAM.  Now that I'm an adult, I have very mixed feelings about meat that comes in a can, but hey to each their own. Many recommend frying SPAM before serving.

According to SPAM's official website, while many wonder what actually is in SPAM, it's actually just 6 ingredients, ham, salt, water, potato starch, sodium nitrate, and sugar.  Which makes this canned meat sound significantly less scary when you break it down. However, SPAM's fall flavor has some people questioning everything.

Pumpkin Spice SPAM

Yes, you read that right, Pumpkin Spice SPAM is a thing. Well, it was a thing.  For a limited time in 2019 SPAM released the Pumpkin Spice Spam and it had the internet going bonkers.  But why am I bringing this up now?  It turns out Hoosiers might be missing this savory pumpkin spice-flavored meat.

Hoosiers Love Pumpkin Spice SPAM The Most

Google Trends recently released what each state in the country is Googling more than any other state, but the pumpkin spice edition.  For instance, people from Illinois LOVE their pumpkin spice creamer and they search for it more than any other state.  People from Kentucky love pumpkin spice cheesecake.  Both of those sound like delicious things, that SHOULD come in the pumpkin spice variety.  However, Indiana is searching for Pumpkin Spice SPAM more than any other state.

I don't know what this says about us Hoosiers, maybe that we're a big fan of savory fall treats?  Either way, I'll be keeping an eye out for pumpkin spice-flavored SPAM, and I'll let you know if SPAM decides to bring it back again.  In the meantime you can check Google Trends and see what other pumpkin spice things states love, here.
