Survey Reveals America’s Most Welcoming Towns

A recent survey of just over 3,000 vacationers has ranked the top 130 American towns and cities where locals are most likely to greet a stranger as they walk by (amfmtreatment.com). These aren’t a bunch of tourist hot spots either – they are mainly smaller towns that are simply full of good neighborly vibes.

Tennessee has a few entries on the list, including two cities in the top 10. Usually, when Tennessee is on a “best of” list, it’s for cities like Nashville or Gatlinburg – but not this time. Take a look.

Picture strolling down the street in Columbia, when you’re greeted with a mild “howdy,” a subtle nod, or even “Hey there, beautiful day, isn’t it?” It’s the kind of place where even a quick exchange can brighten your mood.

Over in Morristown, you’ll find locals just as eager to connect - even with complete strangers. They say “hi” with genuine warmth, maybe asking where you’re headed or offering a tip on local eats. It's no wonder vacationers rated them among the friendliest in the nation.

Why Friendly Places Leave a Lasting Impact

Friendly vibes aren’t just feel-good; they build connection, community, and yes, even tourism! Travelers love to return to places that feel welcoming, and residents get the bonus of living in a more cohesive, neighborly community.
