When I saw this I got so excited that I had to share this with you. Now I'm sure you have been on the hunt for a sweet treat but maybe dairy has not been your friend. Milk has never been my friend which stinks because well dairy is awesome and makes up a lot fun treats like ice cream. Back at my home town there was this tiny ice cream shop that had dairy free soft served ice cream and they could make any blizzard I could imagine and I absolutely love that place. However, I don't live there anymore so I have been lacking on my ice cream intake and that stinks because it's summer! Well, Milk and Sugar Scoop Shoppe just saved the day.

Both locations are now offering non-dairy shakes made with coconut milk and honestly this is the kind of announcement that deserves its own celebration.

Why This Matters

Here is the thing. Ice cream shops are great but they are not always the most inclusive when it comes to dietary needs. Whether you are lactose intolerant, like me, dairy free by choice, or just curious about trying something different, having a non-dairy option that actually tastes good is a game changer. Plus, who doesn't want to enjoy a milk shake on a hot summer day? Well, now you can enjoy dairy or dairy free milk shakes so it's a win win for everyone.

Every time I get dairy free ice cream I always let my friends try it to see if they like it as much as regular ice cream. Of course if you are a milk lover your used to the real milk version, but I also haven't had someone try my ice cream and not like it. Coconut milk is creamy, it is smooth, and when you put it in a shake it delivers. This is not a watered down consolation prize for people who cannot have dairy. This is a legitimate option that everyone should try at least once.
