I’ve Lived Here Less Than a Year—Here’s Everything I’m Trying in Evansville

If you’ve been listening lately, you’re probably starting to get to know me a little better and one thing that’s pretty obvious is I’m not originally from here.

I’ve kind of been all over… I’m from Southern Illinois, moved north for a bit, went back to Southern Illinois, spent some time in Southeast Missouri, and now I’ve landed in Evansville. And I’ve got to say, even though I haven’t been here a full year yet, I’m quickly realizing there is A LOT to do around here especially now that the weather is finally starting to warm up.

So naturally, I did what any of us would do… I started building a spring and summer bucket list.

And honestly? It’s getting long. But I wanted to keep it at ten and see what you think I'm missing to add to my Summer Bucket List.

New to Evansville and Already Loving It

There’s something about discovering a new city in real time that makes everything feel a little more exciting. Every weekend feels like a chance to try something new and in Evansville, those options just keep stacking up.

From local food spots to outdoor adventures, I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface.

My Spring Bucket List (So Far)

Some of these are local must-dos, and a few are little road trips I’ve been dreaming about but all of them are officially on my list for this year:

Take a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains
I don’t even care how early I have to wake up—give me the views, the fresh air, and all the hiking trails.

Pick wildflowers
There’s just something about slowing down and enjoying a quiet moment outside.

Have the ultimate picnic day
Blanket, snacks, sunshine… now I just need to find the perfect spot.

Catch an Evansville Otters game
I’ve heard the atmosphere is so fun, and this feels like a must-do Evansville experience.

Spend a day at Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden
Animals, walking trails, and flowers? That’s a full day right there.

Try all the local ice cream spots
We’re talking G.D. Ritzy's, Lic's Deli & Ice Cream, and Zesto on Franklin. If it’s local and sweet, I’m in.

Go to a drive-in movie
I’ve never done this before, and it just feels like a classic summer/spring experience I need to check off.

Try “March Crabness” pizza

All I know what to expect is that it's rich and Bobby loves it, so I know I need to try it at least once. I also need to keep an eye out for more of their 'Pizza's of the Month.'

Take a quick trip to Louisville

Close enough for a day trip, but still feels like a mini getaway.

Go horseback riding

This one has been on my list forever—this might finally be the year.

Help Me Build the Ultimate Evansville Bucket List

Here’s the thing—since I’m still new to Evansville, I *know* I’m missing some must-do experiences. I am trying to focus on the Spring season only at the moment and whatever I don't accomplish in the spring can go on the Summer Bucket List.

So now I need your help… what should I add?

Hidden gems, local traditions, your go-to restaurants, or something totally unexpected—I want to hear it. Because if there’s one thing I’m learning fast, it’s that Evansville knows how to do spring and summer right.
