Artificial Intelligence is weird, and I don't know how I feel about it.

What is Artificial Intelligence?

Here lately it seems we are hearing a lot about artificial intelligence or AI on the internet, so what is AI?  To be totally honest with you, I struggled to define AI, so I figured I'd let IBM explain:

While a number of definitions of artificial intelligence (AI) have surfaced over the last few decades, John McCarthy offers the following definition in this 2004 paper (PDF, 106 KB) (link resides outside IBM), " It is the science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs. It is related to the similar task of using computers to understand human intelligence, but AI does not have to confine itself to methods that are biologically observable."

Online there are many ways to utilize AI, and one really popular way is ChatGPT. ChatGPT was created by a company called OpenAI, and they have created this artificial intelligence to basically chat and interact with people.

I Asked ChatGPT To Tell Me About Indiana

Recently I asked AI to tell me 5 things about Evansville, and the answers were very interesting.  Most of the answers were correct, but there were some wild card answers, you can see those here.  But as Indiana as a whole, the answeres seemed a tad more accurate than Evansville's.

Here are the 5 "facts" ChatGPT told me about the state of Indiana:

Location and geography: Indiana is a state located in the Midwestern region of the United States. It borders Michigan to the north, Ohio to the east, Kentucky to the south, and Illinois to the west. The state is relatively flat with some rolling hills in the southern part of the state.

This one seems accurate to me.  Let's continue onto ChatGPT Indiana fact number 2:

State capital and largest city: The state capital of Indiana is Indianapolis, which is also the largest city in the state. Indianapolis is known for its sports teams, including the Indianapolis Colts (NFL) and the Indiana Pacers (NBA).

Again, fair points ChatGPT.

Famous attractions: Indiana is home to several famous attractions, including the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which hosts the famous Indy 500 race every year. Other popular tourist destinations include the Indiana Dunes National Park, the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, and the historic town of French Lick.

This one I think was interesting, because French Lick just seems like kind of a wild card against all of those other things, but overall this one seems correct to me. Let's head on over to ChatGPT Indiana fact #4:

Agriculture: Indiana is a major producer of corn, soybeans, and pork, and is sometimes referred to as the "Crossroads of America" because of its central location and extensive network of highways and railroads.

Again, this is all true.  I did not know what an extensive part in the pork industry the stae of Indiana played,  but according to IN.Gov, Indiana is a pretty big player in the pork industry as well as dairy. Now ChatGPT Indiana fact #5 is where things fall off a bit.

History: Indiana played an important role in the history of the United States, particularly during the Civil War and the Civil Rights Movement. The state was a major center of the Underground Railroad, which helped slaves escape to freedom, and was the birthplace of several prominent civil rights leaders, including Martin Luther King Jr.'s wife, Coretta Scott King

I wasn't sure about the accuracy of this last claim, but after some research it turns out Indiana does have quite the rich history with Underground Railroad operations.  However, the last part of this statement is not true.  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s wife, Coretta Scott King was not born in Indiana.  She was actually born in Alabama.
