Here’s The Forecast on Halloween Night For Owensboro/Evansville Area
Halloween Excitement is in the air...but so is the rain
Bobby and I have been chatting all week about Halloween, and we can’t wait to share our costumes with you! I’m also just as excited to see your costumes because, let’s be honest, Evansville knows how to do Halloween right. Every time I walk my usual route, I notice the porches lined with jack-o’-lanterns, spider webs draped across railings, and that one house that somehow manages to turn their front yard into a full haunted attraction.
Gloomy Forecast, but Cozy Vibes
But while Halloween excitement is in the air… the weather isn’t exactly cooperating. It’s been gloomy, rainy, and kind of unpredictable lately, typical fall in Southern Indiana, right?
Rainy Days Can Call for Comfort
Now, I’ll be honest. I don’t mind a rainy day too much. There’s something comforting about it, the kind of afternoon where you can put soup on the stove, curl up with a mystery novel, or watch a good spooky movie. (Side note: I finally watched Pet Sematary for the first time today… I don’t know why I waited so long, but wow. That’ll stick with me for a bit.)
From Drought to Downpour
If we rewind just a few months, we were asking for rain . Remember how dry the summer was? The grass was practically begging for water, and fall temperatures took their sweet time arriving. Mid-October finally brought that crisp air we’d all been waiting for.
When Fall Really Begins
In my book, fall officially starts on September 1st. That’s when the decorations come out, Gilmore Girls goes on in the background, and my whole place starts smelling like pumpkin-spiced clove. There’s something about fall that feels like home, especially when you’ve moved somewhere new and get to experience local traditions for the first time.
Evansville Knows How to Celebrate
And Evansville? This city does not disappoint when it comes to fall spirit. Between the pumpkin patches, haunted houses, and neighborhoods that go all-out with their decorations, it’s clear people here love this season just as much as I do.
So, What About Halloween Night?
But back to the question on everyone’s mind — what about the weather for Halloween night? Halloween Night will be a high of 58 and a low of 41 so I would recommend wearing a coat. As the sun should be shining and the wet weather should be passed, it might be a good idea to have an umbrella or coat with a hood just in case. Because as much as we love a good drizzle when we’re indoors, rain can really change the mood when you’re trying to cheer on your team at a playoff football game, walk through a fall festival, or take the kids trick-or-treating.
Embrace the Rain and Make it Fun
So what’s the plan if the skies don’t clear up? My advice: embrace it. Bring the rain boots, grab the umbrella, and make it part of the fun. If you are looking for a last-minute costume idea, I might suggest something with a hood to keep you warm. Like Ron suggested, maybe now is the time to dress up as Sully from Monsters Inc. Some of the best Halloween memories happen when things don’t go perfectly — when your costume gets a little wet or your hair frizzes from the drizzle, but you’re still laughing, candy in hand, soaking up the moment.
No Matter the Weather, Fall Wins
No matter what Mother Nature throws at us, Evansville always finds a way to make the season special. Whether you’re trick-or-treating, watching a scary movie marathon, or warming up after a rainy night out with a cup of cider, there’s still plenty of magic to go around.
So here’s to fall — rain, chill, pumpkins, and all.
