If your bookshelf has been looking a little empty – or maybe you’ve already read everything in your personal library – the EVPL Foundation's 2026 Summer Book Sale is the perfect excuse to stock up. Whether you're a lifelong book lover, a bargain hunter, or just looking for something new to enjoy, this annual event is packed with incredible deals while supporting a great cause right here in our community.

Get More Than Just Books at This Sale

Despite the name, this isn't just a sale for bookworms. You'll find thousands of items available, including fiction, non-fiction, children's books, audiobooks, movies, CDs, and DVDs. It's the kind of place where you might walk in looking for one novel and leave with an entire bag full of entertainment. And the prices are hard (if not impossible) to beat. Most items are priced between 50 cents and $2, making it easy to fill your shelves without emptying your wallet.

Everything You Need to Know Before You Go

The two-day sale takes place at Washington Square Mall (4800 Washington Avenue in Evansville) on Saturday, August 1, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, August 2, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is completely free, so you can browse at your own pace and hunt for hidden treasures. Organizers do recommend bringing your own bag or box – odds are you’ll need it to carry home your finds. You’ll also need to bring cash, unless you're planning a bigger shopping spree – in that case, credit cards will be accepted with a $10 minimum purchase.

While the bargains are reason enough to stop by, it also doesn’t hurt to know that every purchase also helps make a difference throughout the Evansville community. The Summer Book Sale is one of the EVPL Foundation's primary fundraisers, with proceeds helping fund a wide variety of library programs and services.
