A Historic Stadium Gets a Modern Upgrade

The historic Reitz Bowl was built on Evansville’s west side back in 1921, and since then, it has become known as one of the best high school football stadiums in Indiana. As you can imagine, though, after more than a century of hosting events, the Bowl was due for some much-needed renovations. And now, after months of work and a $7.5 million investment, those renovations are complete, and the Bowl is ready to welcome back fans just in time for high school football!

The EVSC shared the drone footage below, giving us a sneak peek at all the work that’s been done.

What's New at the Reitz Bowl

If you’ve been to the Reitz Bowl before, then you will immediately notice several improvements.

• Brand-new seating throughout the stadium
• Completely rebuilt stairways and steps featuring new handrails designed to improve safety and accessibility.
• The stadium is now fully ADA compliant, making it easier than ever for everyone in the community to enjoy Friday night football and other events.
• New LED stadium lighting
• The press box has been upgraded
• The concession stands and ticket booths have also received welcome improvements

More Athletic Facility Improvements Across the EVSC

The Reitz Bowl isn't the only athletic facility getting some love, either. Enlow Field is receiving renovations similar to those at the Reitz Bowl, Harrison High School recently had new turf installed on its football field, and Central High School has a new track. And every EVSC high school football stadium will feature a new digital scoreboard this fall.

Your first chance to experience the new and improved Reitz Bowl under those “Friday Night Lights” will be when the Reitz Panthers host the Harrison Warriors for the first game of the season on Friday, August 21^st.
