Did Father's Day Sneak Up on You?

You are not alone. This year is just flying by and I think we should start a petition to stretch out the time from Mother's Day to Father's Day, they're so close together. But, the good news is that Evansville and the Tri-State have plenty going on this weekend whether Dad is into baseball, classic cars, live music, a big brunch, or just a really good steak with the people he loves most. We put it all together so you do not have to stress about it.

And just a heads up. Do not wait until Sunday afternoon to make a reservation. Father's Day is one of the busiest restaurant weekends of the year and tables are filling up fast.

So, lets start with the good grub you can get.

Father's Day Brunch Downtown

For dads who prefer breakfast over barbecue, COMFORT by the Cross-Eyed Cricket is serving brunch Sunday morning and is always a popular downtown destination for families celebrating something special. I told my dad, next time he comes to Indiana I have got to take to COMFORT, it just never disappoints. Frankie's Restaurant is another great local option serving breakfast all day with plenty of hearty options for dads who appreciate a big meal done right.

Steak Night for Dad

If your dad is not a breakfast kind of guy and wants something a little more meatier this should work. Father's Day and steak go together like socks and sandals. To treat Dad to a really good dinner this weekend here are a few spots worth calling ahead for a reservation.

NANDO Wood-Fired Steak and Seafood downtown is one of Evansville's newest special occasion dining destinations and already making a name for itself. Cork n Cleaver is a longtime Evansville favorite known for their steaks and their famous salad bar that people have been coming back to for years. And if you want something a little more casual, LongHorn Steakhouse and Texas Roadhouse are both expecting Father's Day crowds so plan ahead.

Riverfront Dining

If Dad enjoys a view with his dinner, Cavanaugh's On the River and Robert's By The River are both great options overlooking the Ohio River. Either one is going to make Dad feel like the day was well thought out even if you just figured it out this morning.

Take Dad Out to the Ballgame

Nothing says Father's Day quite like baseball. The Evansville Otters are home this weekend at historic Bosse Field and it is a perfect opportunity to spend an afternoon cheering on the hometown team. The Otters have been running some great fan promotions throughout the season including their popular Sunday Family Funday activities so check their schedule before you head out.

Check Out the Classic Iron Show

If your dad is the kind of guy who lights up around vintage tractors and old machinery, the annual Classic Iron Show hosted by the Southern Indiana Antique and Machinery Club is exactly where he needs to be this weekend. Antique tractors, farm equipment, engines, demonstrations, and plenty of chances to talk shop with fellow enthusiasts. Dad is going to be in his element.

Jump Around With the Kids

If Dad has little ones at home, Sky Zone Evansville is hosting a special Father's Day Little Leapers event where kids six and under can jump and play while making some really fun Father's Day memories. This one is going to be a hit with the whole family.

Spend the Day at the Zoo

You truly cannot go wrong with a trip to Mesker Park Zoo. It is open all weekend, makes for a really fun family outing especially with cooler morning temperatures expected, and it is a great chance to check out some of the zoo's newest animals and exhibits. Pack some snacks and make a morning of it.

Hit the Farmers Market or Franklin Street Bazaar

For dads who enjoy a relaxed Saturday morning, both the Evansville Farmers Market and the Franklin Street Bazaar are great options. Local produce, baked goods, handmade goods, food trucks, and good community energy all in one place. Grab a coffee, browse around, and support some local businesses while you are at it.

Catch Live Music Downtown

If Dad is a music lover, several downtown venues have entertainment lined up throughout the weekend including events at Old National Events Plaza and the historic Victory Theatre. Check venue schedules before heading out since times vary but there is something going on all weekend long.

National Deals Worth Knowing About

A few chains with Evansville locations are running some solid Father's Day promotions this weekend. Kona Grill is offering Father's Day brunch, lunch, and dinner along with gift card specials through June 22. Ford's Garage has a 12 ounce New York Strip Steak special and discounted Old Fashioneds all weekend long. And 7 Brew is giving customers a free Brewzie and a thank you card with the purchase of two medium or large drinks while supplies last.

Overall, Dads, We Appreciate You

Most dads are not looking for anything fancy. A good meal, a cold drink, and time with the people they love is usually all they really want. This weekend Evansville has plenty of ways to make that happen.

Go celebrate your dad. He deserves it. 👨‍👧‍👦
