What seems like forever ago I wrote about how much I missed going to the gym.  I thought I was going to lose it at one point….  However, as part of Governor Eric Holcomb’s “Back on Track” plan gyms in Indiana have now been open for the past week.  What a glorious week it has been.

Don’t worry, this is not going to be some long, drawn-out rant about how great my workouts have been and what I’ve been doing.  Well, maybe.  I’ll start with this.  Aside from the fact that yes, it feels so good to get back into something I’ve enjoyed for a long time, but it’s also great to see other people doing the same.  This doesn’t just apply to working out.

Slowly we have seen things start to open back up.  It might not be exactly how it was before the pandemic but it’s progress none the less.  We’ve been able to travel again, see a few friends and family members, and even actually going out to eat.  After two months of not doing a lot of those things you definitely start to take them for granted.

It’s been interesting to sit back and watch people in this, for lack of a better word, “new normal”.  For instance, watching people shop at an outlet mall.  It’s like watching a bunch of little kids going nuts in a candy store.  So much so that we are now willing to wait an hour in line just to walk around the Nike store.  It’s interesting to see but also amusing; in a good way.  People seem happy just to be outside saying hello to a stranger.

It’s an understatement to say that this year has been weird.  A lot has happened in a short amount of time.  I think we all need a little pick me up.  So, I do hope you have been able to do something that has put a smile on your face.  Or in my case making your entire body absolutely so sore that normal movements make you want to cry.  Ahh, good times.
