Consider Dancing As Part of Your Workout for 2018
So, this year you plan to spend some time in the gym to get back into shape, right? Have you considered dancing as part of your workout? It's a fun way to burn calories!
Here's what I found on the fitness blender website for burning calories during these dances:
Swing – Hurling around your own bodyweight (and possibly your partner’s too) in this moderate to intense cardio workout burns between 300 and 550 cals. Depending on how high impact your style is and how much intensive maneuvering you do of your partner, it could very easily expend even more.
Ballroom - Slower paced styles will expend between 150 and 220, while quicker types will range between 250 and 320 per hour.
Salsa dancing – Roughly 405 per 60 minutes for someone weighing 140, or around 480 for a 180 lb person.
Zumba - Women in an average weight range, say roughly 120-170 for estimation purposes, are going to burn between 350 and 650 calories in an hour of Zumba, if they go at full intensity through the entire class. The exact expenditure during a class depends on a number of different variables, including exact weight, muscle content, fitness level and more.
There are several Dance Club's here in the Evansville area including The Evansville Swing Cats, The Friday Night Dance Club, The Metro Ballroom Dance Club, The Evansville River City Bop Club, and others that you can be a part of with or without a partner!
This Thursday, you can join the Evansville Swing Cats at SWIRCA, 16 W Virginia St, Evansville, IN 47710 for East Coast Swing or Lindy Rueda lessons. Doors open at 7:15pm. Lessons begin at 7:30pm and open dance begins at 8pm. To learn more, visit their Facebook page.
Have fun burnin' off those calories!
