Crafting Memories With Callie’s Unique Creative Series
The Joy of Making Something from Scratch
f you know me at all, you know I love a good craft. There’s just something about making things with your own hands — painting rocks, knitting a scarf, or hand-painting a plate for someone you love. It’s creative, it’s personal, and honestly, it’s kind of therapeutic.
From Random Crafts to a Real Series
The idea for this series actually came from a conversation with Bobby. I was listing off all the random crafts I’ve done over the years, and he stopped me and said, “You should make this a series. Show people what you make and how you do it.” And just like that, Callie’s Crafts was born.
This is where I’ll write to you and invite you into my little crafty corner — the projects I’m working on, the inspiration behind them, and maybe even a few ideas you can try yourself.
Yes, I’m a Proud Dead Head
If you’ve been listening for a while, you know I’m a **huge Dead Head**. I love the Grateful Dead, and one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life was seeing Dead & Company perform at the Sphere. It truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime moment — one of those nights you wish you could freeze forever.
When You Can’t Relive It, You Create It
Since I can’t relive that night, I decided to turn it into art. I had a few Grateful Dead magazines laying around the house, plus several photos I took at the show that I printed out. I grabbed a big canvas, added some magazine cutouts, photos, and a whole lot of Mod Podge, and turned it into a collage.
The Best Compliment: “You Made That?”
Now it hangs on my wall and always gets people asking, “Did you make this?” — which might be my favorite compliment. For me, handmade pieces are more than just decor. They’re one-of-a-kind, full of memories, and a way to capture moments that mean a lot to me.
This Is Just the Beginning
So here it is — my Grateful Dead mural, holding onto one of the best nights of my life. And don’t worry, this is just the start. I can’t wait to show you what I’m crafting next.
