15 Things Found at a Southern Indiana Thrift Store That Will Remind You of Grandma’s House
Thrifting is all the rage these days, which is funny because when I was a teenager wearing used clothing was frowned upon. Plus, in a small town, you run the risk of wearing something that another teen tossed into the donate pile. How embarrassing, right?
Thrifting Brings Out The Feels
As I walked around The Thrift Store by Evansville Rescue Mission, I just kept seeing things that reminded me of my childhood. Several things were probably more specific to my Nana like the all-in-one change purse/cigarette case, and the duel VCR. But I did find quite a lot of items that we can all agree remind us of grandma's house.
What's Missing?
I honestly thought that I would come across an old piano or organ. After a quick look at online yard sales, I can see why there weren't any at the thrift store - Most of them are free. Old pianos are super heavy and good luck trying to tune one. I'm sure there has been or will be an electric organ donated, though.
Do you Want Fancy Clothes?
All you had to do was pick out a super fancy pattern like this one from Christian Dior or Vogue, and let grandma get to work on her sewing machine. I can honestly say that we had so many patterns for clothes in my house, but I don't remember my mom actually making any of the fancy Paris originals.
