Mother Nature has been a bit unpredictable so far in 2025 (I don't want to type too loudly for fear that she might hear me and get angry), and there's no reason to think that will change any time soon. To get an idea of what kind of weather to expect this summer, let's turn to the folks who seem to have a pretty good understanding of Mother Nature - the Old Farmers' Almanac.

Tennessee is a popular tourist destination each year - Nashville, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Knoxville, and Memphis (among others) offer a wide variety of activities for those looking to get away. So, if you are planning a trip to the Volunteer State this summer, it may not hurt to have an idea of the kind of weather you might encounter.

When Does Summer 2025 Begin, and What's the Forecast for Tennessee?

The summer solstice officially marks the beginning of summer, and that will happen on Friday, June 20, 2025. The summer solstice marks the longest day (the most daylight) of the year. Here in Southern Indiana, we will have around 14 hours and 50 minutes of daylight. Here's what the Farmers' Almanac says the country (in general) can expect this summer...

Heat will be in full force by July, with much of the nation sweltering with above- to high-above average temperatures. More long-time high temperature records may be broken this year. Much of the country will see near-average precipitation.

They also provide forecasts that are a bit more specific for different regions of the country. Tennessee falls in the Southeast region, and as you can see on the map above, the Volunteer State can expect "brutally humid and wet" conditions this summer. I would prefer to NOT see the word "brutal" anywhere in my summer forecast - but I guess we'll just have to wait and see if the forecast is correct.

The Farmers' Almanac was kind enough to share the forecast for a couple of important dates this summer...

  • Fourth of July - Big thunderstorms might put a damper on the fireworks in Tennessee.
  • Labor Day Weekend - Thunderstorms clear the Atlantic Coast, hopefully in time for Labor Day, then turning fair.

A Unique Tennessee Getaway, The Smoky Mountain Pirate Ship

Located on Douglas Lake in Tennessee, sits a rather unconventional houseboat. What makes this houseboat unconventional is it's been modeled to look like a pirate ship, complete with masts, skeletons, portholes, and more! If you're wanting a Smoky Mountain getaway like no other, this is certainly a good option. See the full VRBO listing, here.
