This Tiny Indiana Town Is Home to the Midwest’s Biggest Flea Market
If you’re someone who loves the thrill of the hunt - whether it’s for antiques, vintage finds, or that perfectly quirky conversation piece - then you’re going to want to make plans for a road trip this season.
Where to Find the Midwest’s Largest Flea Market
A little over five hours north of Evansville, you’ll find a shopper’s paradise that’s unlike anything else in Indiana (or the Midwest, for that matter). I’m talking about the Shipshewana Trading Place Auction & Flea Market – the largest flea market not only in Indiana but in the entire Midwest! And the 2025 season is just about to kick off.

What Makes Shipshewana So Special?
The town of Shipshewana may be small (population just over 800), but don’t let that fool you – this flea market is huge. Think 30 football fields worth of treasures, spread across 40+ acres and featuring nearly 700 vendors. Whether you’re into farmhouse décor, vintage collectibles, handmade crafts, rare antiques, or just love exploring the unexpected, this place delivers.
Shipshewana Auction & Flea Market Dates You Don’t Want to Miss
The 2025 season runs from May 6th through October 1st, and the market is open every Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. They’re also adding in a few special weekend dates if weekdays don’t work for you:
- Memorial Day Weekend: May 26-28
- June Weekend Market: June 20-21
- August Weekend Market: August 1-2
- Labor Day Weekend: September 1-3

As if that wasn’t enough excitement, Shipshewana is also home to an incredible antique auction house. Every Wednesday, you’ll find up to nine auctioneers calling at once under one roof. That is an experience you’ve got to see (and hear) to believe!
