Ryan O’Bryan’s Weekend in Photos
With no show last Friday due to the Cubs versus White Sox game, I took the day off to enjoy a nice three-day weekend filled with a trip to the movies with the family, and a youth baseball tournament in lovely Leopold, Indiana. Here's a few photos from my travels.
Found this guy hitching a ride on a truck parked at the Perry Central ball park where my son's youth league all-star team were participating in a weekend tourney. After losing both pool play games on Saturday and entering tourney play as the fourth out of five seeds, we found ourselves up bright and early Sunday for a game against the fifth seed which they won 12-11, setting up a game that afternoon against the number one seed Tell City All-Stars. Unfortunately our luck ran out during that game and we found ourselves heading home early.
Sunday was my wife's birthday, so on our way back from Leopold, she wanted to take a detour into Lynnville for a quick stop at Mystique Winery to grab one of their wine slushes. Meanwhile, I enjoyed a glass of Witchdoctor, a sweet blueberry wine. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but this was pretty good. I'd definitely get it again.
If you have kids, you know their bladders don't hold a ton of liquid, so before hitting the interstate for the final stretch of the trip home, we hit a gas station in Lynnville so everyone could get one last bathroom break in. While waiting for my kids to finish up, I found this. Clearly this freezer has had one too many and needs to find its way home.
Since Sunday was my wife's birthday, and we had spent the better part of two days sitting out in the sun at our son's baseball tourney, I figured the least I could do was tell my wife to relax and let me handle dinner. I whipped up this delicious bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin with a Cuban Chimichurri Sauce and Black Bean and Corn Salad with homemade Chipotle-Honey Dressing. Boo-Freaking-Yah.
Even with the application of sunscreen over the weekend, my time out in the sun at my son's baseball tournament left me with a pretty rockin' farmers tan that I'll wear like a badge of honor.
