Another Tri-State school is being recognized for excellence on a state-wide level. In a ceremony over the weekend, the Indiana Association of Principals announced the winners of their Principals of the Year program. The program recognizes "outstanding school leaders in each of the 12 Indiana districts who have succeeded in providing high-quality learning opportunities for students. These principals are acknowledged by their peers for the exemplary contributions they have made to the profession."

The winner of the Elementary Principal of the Year is Ashlee Bruggenschmidt from Sharon Elementary school in Newburgh. She won the award for the things she has done both in and out of school. Bruggenschmidt created the Play for Kate Foundation after her older child, Kate, was killed in an ATV accident back in 2015. She has led the way in passing a law that requires children under 18 years of age to wear a helmet while in or on any off-road vehicle.

Congratulations to Mrs. Bruggenschmidt and to Sharon Elementary!
