Meet the Pickles: Mesker Park Zoo’s Baby Penguin has a First and Last Name
Friends, allow me to introduce you to the Pickle family. Our friends at Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden had an overwhelming response to name the baby pingwing chick that they decided he needed a first and last name.
How to Name a Penguin
When this little cute pie was born in April, zoo keepers could have easily just named it, and we wouldn't love it any less. But, after identifying that he's a little boy, they decided to leave it up to public vote. This turned into a fundraiser to help support the wildlife at the zoo.
I really wanted PingWing on the list, so instead I voted for Pickle!
The Results are in
There was an overwhelming response to both Louie and Pickle. So, guess what? Now the little penguin family has a last name, Pickle!

You blew us away with the response and enthusiasm for the Penguin name voting. From the beginning, TWO names were the overwhelming favorites and we want to thank everyone who voted and use them BOTH. Introducing the Pickle family. Proud parents Charrida & Adrian Pickle and this year's chick, Louie can be spotted at Penguins of Patagonia wearing green bands. The parents have dark green bands and Louie Pickle has a light green identification band.We hope you will be out to visit the Pickle family very soon at Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden.
