Stars Hollow Is Real… And It's Right Here in Kentucky!

I am a huge Gilmore Girls fan, especially around this time of year. When I think of Gilmore Girls, I think of everything fall, that small-town feel, and cozy vibes I want to share with my mom. I love going home to my small town because it gives off those Stars Hollow vibes, but it's still missing some actual Gilmore Girls elements.

I want to stumble upon a small town where I can walk into Luke's and grab some coffee that everyone raves about. Or take some cute photos inside the gazebo. Or just stroll around town, picking up souvenirs and spending some quality time with my mom.

Well, there's a town in Kentucky called Versailles that's been getting attention for giving off some serious Stars Hollow vibes. And if you're a Gilmore Girls fan, you know you're going to want to see this for yourself.

A Little Piece of Stars Hollow Right Here in Kentucky

Versailles is a charming small town in central Kentucky, not far from Lexington. With its historic downtown, locally owned shops, and small-town atmosphere, it's easy to see why people have compared it to the fictional Connecticut town from Gilmore Girls.

A couple of local business owners decided to take that comparison and run with it.

Becca Lowe, owner of Tiny Bird Books, and Reagan Berry, owner of My Darling and Company, helped bring the idea to life with an event called A Weekend in Stars Hollow.

The celebration returned for its second year in September 2026, and downtown Versailles got a full Gilmore Girls-inspired makeover.

Luke's Diner, Doose's Market, and Yes, Even a Gazebo!

So, good news and bad news. The bad news is that this year's event has already passed because it takes place during the last weekend of September, September 25–27, to be exact. The good news is that Versailles still has those Gilmore Girls vibes, and the event is expected to return next year. So, mark your calendar for the end of September next year and keep an eye on Versailles!

During the event, The Amsden became Luke's Diner, My Darling and Company turned into Doose's Market, and Tiny Bird Books celebrated Rory Gilmore's love of reading.

And you can't have Stars Hollow without that iconic town gazebo, right?

Well, students from Woodford County High School actually built a gazebo for the event!

Visitors got to enjoy themed shopping, specialty drinks, photo opportunities, and plenty of activities inspired by the show.

Basically, for one weekend, this little Kentucky town brought Stars Hollow to life.

This Was More Than Just a Fun Weekend

Here's something I really love about this story.

What started as a fun idea between local business owners has turned into a pretty big deal for the community.

According to WKYT, organizers reported around 6,000 visitors on Friday alone during the 2026 celebration, with even more people visiting throughout the weekend.

And it wasn't just Gilmore Girls fans who benefited.

One local business owner reportedly shared that the event helped save her business from potentially closing. The extra sales allowed her to stock her store for the Christmas season.

I think that's pretty cool. Something that started as a way to celebrate a beloved TV show ended up making a real difference for small businesses.

You Can Still Experience That Stars Hollow Charm

Now, the 2026 event has already come and gone, so you won't find all the themed decorations and activities set up downtown right now.

But here's the good news. Versailles isn't just charming for one weekend out of the year.

The town still has its historic downtown, locally owned shops, bookstores, and plenty of places to grab a coffee and spend an afternoon exploring.

Isn't that part of what makes Stars Hollow so special in the first place?

You don't necessarily need a big event to enjoy a cute little town.

I don't know about you, but walking around downtown, popping into shops, finding a good bookstore, and grabbing a coffee sounds like a pretty great fall afternoon to me.

Plus, with the Stars Hollow celebration now having completed its second year, this is definitely an event worth keeping an eye on for the future.

You can check out Visit Woodford County for upcoming events and things to do around Versailles.

So, if you're looking for a Kentucky road trip with a little Gilmore Girls charm, Versailles might just deserve a spot on your list!
