March Marks The End Of Cookie Sales In Evansville
Girl Scout Cookie Season Is Almost Over in the Evansville Area
If you’ve been thinking about grabbing a box of Girl Scout cookies around Evansville… this is your sign that time is running out!
Girl Scout Cookie season runs from January through about mid-April nationwide, but here in southern Indiana and the surrounding region, things typically wrap up a little sooner. Local booths have been set up at businesses across the area, but many of those will disappear by the end of March. Take it from me, I feel like I've always till the last minute to get Girl Scout Cookies and then by the time I do they're out of the ones I want.
So if you’ve been craving favorites like Thin Mints or Peanut Butter Patties like me, or you’ve been curious about the new 2026 flavor, Exploremores—you’ll want to grab them soon before they’re gone for the year.
What Happens to Unsold Girl Scout Cookies?
Now here’s something a lot of people don’t realize… not every single box actually gets sold.
It might be surprising, but at the end of the season, some troops are left with extra cookies. When that happens, they first try to transfer boxes between troops to keep sales going as long as possible.
But the main goal? Making sure those cookies still do some good.
Giving Back to the Community
Girl Scout troops are encouraged to donate leftover cookies to local food pantries, charities, and organizations that help people in need.
Through programs like Cookie Share—and even through individual troop donations—those extra boxes often end up in the hands of families facing food insecurity or are shared with veterans and service organizations.
So while you might miss out on your favorite flavor, someone else could be getting a much-needed treat.
A Sweet Ending Either Way
And if there are still a few boxes left after donations? The Girl Scouts themselves usually get to keep them and enjoy them, which let's be honest, they’ve earned it after a long season of selling.
At the end of the day, Girl Scout Cookie season isn’t just about cookies—it’s about building skills, supporting local kids, and giving back to the community right here in the Evansville area.
But seriously… if you want your favorites, don’t wait too long. Grab them before they go!
