Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year Program
Youth of the Year is the highest honor bestowed upon a Boys & Girls Club member. The selected Youth of the Year has the opportunity to compete in the state-wide Youth of the Year competition happening in April in Indianapolis. The Youth of the Year program was established by Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 1947 and provides state, regional, and national competition levels where ultimately, one Boys & Girls Club youth is honored as the National Youth of the Year and will serve a 1-year term representing Boys & Girls Club across the country.
The Boys & Girls Club of Evansville Youth of the Year Winner Is...
A BIG congratulations to Alexzander Colacecchi on being awarded the 2024 Boys & Girls Club of Evansville Youth of the Year! Some of Zander's favorite Club activities are E-sports, gym, and hanging out with friends. He is a long-time Club member who will now go on to represent the Boys & Girls Club of Evansville at the state Youth of the Year competition in April.
The Evansville Club's Executive Director, Andrew Backes, says this about the Youth of the Year Program...
This program allows us to introduce young people to healthy lifestyle choices while working together to achieve their dreams through dedication and community engagement. We are contributing to the development of the next generation of leaders and eagerly anticipate celebrating with our members and the community.

Youth of the Year is a national program with the Boys & Girls Club of America, which means that winners from clubs all around the country are competing to be the National Youth of the Year. Zander will compete against other young people from Indiana clubs. State winners (hopefully it's Zander) will then advance to the regional and then, hopefully, the national competition.

Youth of the Year is the highest honor a club member can receive. The national winner will represent all of the Boys & Girls Clubs for the next year. This includes "traveling to address various groups on youth issues and the role Boys & Girls Clubs play in changing young lives."
The mission of the Boys & Girls Club is to enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens
