The Alabama Fugitives: A Look Back at Evansville’s National Headline from One Year Ago
Can you believe that it has already been a year since the two fugitives from Alabama were located right here in our little city? Why in the world Casey White and Vicky White (No relation) decided to rent room 150 at Motel 41 might always remain a mystery.

Since then, Casey White has had various court appearances and remains in prison. A made-for-streaming movie has already been filmed and released. I haven't watched it yet, but I'm sure it's like a Hallmark movie set in room 150.
On May 10, 2022, the U.S. Marshals released the following statement about the incident:
The Alabama fugitives who have been on the run since April 29 were apprehended Monday in Evansville, Indiana, following a brief vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash. Investigators with the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, and the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's office were following leads in Evansville when they saw former corrections officer Vicky White and escaped inmate Casey White in an older model Cadillac on U.S. Route 41. Indiana State Police and Evansville Police Department also assisted in the arrest. Law enforcement officers were able to disable the vehicle at the intersection of Baumgart and Birch Drive. Casey White surrendered and stated his "wife" shot herself. EMTs were on scene and provided first aid to Vicky White and Casey White. Both were transported to a local hospital where Vicky White succumbed to her injuries.

What About the Lauderdale County Escape of Casey White Reward?
District Attorney Chris Connolly recommended the person that Alabama Governor Ivey issued the $5,000 reward to. We don't know who this person is because they have chosen to be anonymous, but we do know that it was not James Stinson. James is the owner of the Evansville car wash where a vehicle that was later connected to this case was found.
It's All-Good for Mr. Stinson
James Stinson did not go away empty-handed. A GoFundMe account was set up in his name. A goal was set for $5,000 and James ended up with $5,280. It does appear to accept donations still if you want to help him out.
