Each year, a select group of high school athletes get the chance to compete against the best basketball players in the country during the McDonald's All-American Games. More than 700 players are nominated by their high school coach, athletic director, principal, or member of the McDonald’s All-American Games Selection Committee, based on achievements both on and off the court. I'm excited to say that one of those nominees is from right here in Southern Indiana.

AVERY KELLEY is a senior at Evansville's Reitz Memorial High School, and when you consider the career she has had, you quickly realize that her nomination is a no-brainer. Take a look at the Memorial stat sheet and you will see that Avery leads the Lady Tigers in just about every category including points per game, rebounds per game, assists per game, and steals per game. Earlier this season, Avery joined the short list of Memorial basketball players to score 1,000 points in their career. She has led the Lady Tigers to a record of 14-3 so far, and a tie for first place in the SIAC.
