2 Indiana Businesses Make the List of Top Mom & Pop Businesses in America
We love supporting our local businesses, and I'm certain that more Indiana mom-and-pop stores should be highlighted.
Yelp recently released a list for Entrepreneur of the Top 150 Mom & Pop Businesses in America. They broke the list into 10 categories and included 15 in each one. Someone put a lot of time into this list, but it's based on real customer reviews on Yelp. Of course, the businesses also have to be locally owned and operated.
So, let's take a road trip to Indianapolis to check out the 2 businesses in Indiana that made the list.
Planting Seeds of Growth
Plants are growing in popularity these days (Pun intended). Some people are even throwing Plant Parties. Blooming Boutique recently opened in Evansville and features all sorts of household plants, including some rarities.
The Botanical Bar
The Botanical Bar made the top shopping list. Who knew that you could order houseplants on DoorDash?
The Botanical Bar is both minority and women-owned — (founded by serial entrepreneur and self-described plant enthusiast Victoria Chantel — and is fueled by a mission to create "happier and healthier home and commercial spaces where 'plant people' meet."
Working Out at New Heights
When I think of a fun place like Vertical Excape, I think of having fun. Not working out. Apparently, this is a new full-body workout trend.
North Mass Boulder
North Mass Boulder turns up the heat as you climb your way to fitness. After I watched the video, it looks like a fun indoor park for adults!
In addition to a wide variety of climbing terrains (and tools), the facility includes yoga and fitness studios, social and work spaces, classes, a health-oriented café and a 14-tap bar. Events include a Queer and Trans Climbing Night, a Cornhole Madness tournament and a Woman Crush Mondays Climb with sport veteran Mei Nagasako.
