This Sandy Spot Has Been Named Indiana’s Most Scenic Walk
Indiana is full of places where you can lace up your hiking boots and take in some jaw-dropping views. Which hiking spot is the best, though? LoveExploring.com released a list of each state’s most scenic walk you can do in a day, and their choice for the Hoosier state is about as far north as you can go and still be in Indiana.

West Beach Trails at Indiana Dunes National Park has been named Indiana’s most scenic walk, and once you hit the trail, it’s easy to see why.
These dunes on the shores of Lake Michigan are stunning year-round, but if you’re heading here in the warmer months, you can make a day of it and follow a walk with some beach time. There are two trails here: the 3.4-mile 3-Loop Trail and the much shorter Dunes Succession Trail, which is just under a mile. Combine the two for a longer walk, taking in secluded sections of forest, looking out for birds, and stopping to gaze at gorgeous views from the top of the Dune Succession Trail stairs.
What makes West Beach Trails extra special is the variety. One minute you're walking on soft beach sand, the next you’re under a shady canopy of black oaks, then suddenly you're standing on a ridge looking over endless water. It's like four different hikes in one, without ever leaving the park.
And don’t worry, it’s family-friendly too. With well-marked paths and options for shorter loops, it’s a great spot for a casual weekend wander, a peaceful solo walk, or a mini-adventure with the kids.

So pack some water, grab your camera, and maybe bring a picnic, because once you get to West Beach, you won’t want to leave. Indiana’s most scenic walk is calling, and trust us - you’ll want to answer.
