I was scrolling through Facebook a few days ago and came across a History of Owensboro, Kentucky post by Carla Rowan.  She shared some incredible photos of old ticket stubs from concerts she saw in the Showroom Lounge at the Executive Inn in downtown Owensboro.  She had tickets from the James Brown, Commodores, Club Nouveau, and Jermaine Jackson concerts.

That brought back a ton of memories.  I saw a bunch of concerts there too (The Whispers, Patty Loveless, etc) and I remembered that I still have my ticket from seeing Natalie Cole there in 1989.  Yes!  My friend Amy and I went to Daviess County High School's senior prom together, but we went to see Natalie Cole in concert first!

We asked WBKR listeners to share photos of their vintage ticket stubs from The Big E.  While many folks shared incredible memories of shows they saw there, not everyone kept their tickets.  However, a few did.  Take a look!

While not everyone kept their ticket stubs, lots of WBKR listeners have and shared memories of the concerts they saw at The Big E.

Jennifer Basham: I was just thinking about this yesterday. I loved going there. It was so much fun. So, intimate. I saw George Jones, Steve Wariner, Bryan White. I remember staying over night to get good tickets. I got to go on a few tour buses there.

Diane Goetz: Loverboy and Joan Jett...Keith Urban and Reo Speedwagon!
Tiffany Stallings Nalley:  So many great concerts there: Collin Raye, Bryan White, Lorrie Morgan, Steve Wariner.
Robin Roach: Can’t put my hand on them atm, but we saw Dr Hook. He was so drunk by the end of his first set. They hadn’t sold many tickets for his second set so they said any of us from the first set that wanted to stay we could for free. He was even drunker by then. Let’s just say I’m glad I wasn’t one of those who paid to see the second set...lol.
Who did you see in concert at the Executive Inn?  We've love to see a photo of your vintage tickets.  You can SHARE YOURS HERE!
