Uncomfortable Tom Brady Talking About Donald Trump Is Uber-Cringeworthy
Tom Brady isn't one for politics.
The New England Patriots quarterback implied very strongly during a press conference Wednesday that he didn't give President-elect Donald Trump permission to tell supporters that he voted for him.
Brady found himself thrust into the political spotlight when Trump told a crowd in New Hampshire the day before the election that he cast his vote for the controversial Republican nominee.
Brady and Trump appear to be similar in many ways -- high-profile figures, powerful, controversial, loved and loathed by many -- so in that regard you can understand how Trump may appeal to him.
Interestingly, Brady had not even voted at the time Trump made his comments.
It's clear Brady wasn't thrilled to be talking about the election, though, and when pressed about whether he did indeed support Trump, he simply said, "Talk to my wife. She said I can't talk about politics anymore." Brady's wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, said she and her husband were not behind Trump.
Patriots coach Bill Belichick, meanwhile, did confirm that he did indeed write a letter to Trump, who also revealed that to the same crowd who heard his Brady comments.
For what it's worth, Trump did not win Massachusetts. No matter where they stood, at least Trump and Belichick proved to have a knowledge of politics, unlike another football icon, Alabama coach Nick Saban, who told the media he had no idea Tuesday was Election Day.
