Southern Indiana Fair Queen Shares Special Moment with Singer/Songwriter Dasha

19-year-old Mallory Maurer of Ft. Branch, Indiana has something in common with Dasha that is pretty permanent.

You can always count on a few staples at the Gibson County Fair, 4-H displays, fair fish, the taffy stand, entertainment, a little politics, and the Gibson County Fair Queen and her court.

I should mention that in typical 'Liberty' fashion, the taffy machine was broken. I'm guessing this was the first time in forever that the taffy stand was closed. Also, I didn't have cash for a fish, so that's on me. But the excitement of the rest of the night made me forget about the taffy, except for every time I mention taffy.

I am always super honored anytime that I get to go back home to help with an event. So, when the Fair President Charlie Woodruff asked if I would handle the stage announcements before their Friday night concert, I was all-in.

Backstage Fun with Royalty

The Fair Queen and her court have special VIP access throughout the week, which includes the opportunity to meet the headlining artist backstage and then have their introductions prior to the concert.

I made some small talk with each of the girls as they waited in line to meet the amazing singer/songwriter - and just an all-around super nice human Dasha. Mallory Maurer is pretty outgoing, so I suggested that she quickly learn a few steps to Dasha's 'Boots Stop Working' line dance. I was hoping this would spark a fun little interaction, but it turned into something pretty magical to watch.

Tattoo Twins

It was a totally Freaky Friday moment when Mallory discovered that she and Dasha share the same tattoo! What?! Obviously, to get something tattooed on your body it's probably very special to you.

What Does 444 Mean?

I tend to make things awkward on the daily, and I purposely did not ask what the 444 tattoo signified just in case it was a sad memory of something, no need to bring the vibe down. There are a plethora of tattoo sites that overexplain every tattoo with a number in it. But for Mallory 444 means Love, God, Success. It is also known as an Angel watching over you.
