McKim's IGA - Built By Family, Supported By The Community

The grocery business can be a tough one, especially if you are a small-town grocer. But McKim's IGA in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, must be doing something right. The Williams family has had the support of the community for over 30 years and counting.

Secret To Small Town Success

My good friend Mandy worked at McKim's when she was younger, and she shared a very important post from Brian Williams of McKim's, along with this quote: "I could not be more proud of my hometown! Working at IGA during high school taught me so much. They have always given back to the community!"

The family continues to serve the community by providing free lunches for kids who need a meal in the summer.

Summer time is supposed to be a fun, relaxing time to enjoy with your family and friends but for some, it can be a stressful time to figure out how they are gong to afford extra food in the house while the kiddos are home from school. IGA wants to help take some of the load off and ease minds of those struggling. Please DO NOT let your kids go hungry. We will be offering kids of any age, peanut butter sandwhiches with a small bag of chips and bottle water, free of charge for those that are struggling to make ends meet. No questions,No shame, and absolutely no judging. Just go to the deli and tell them you are there for the free “school” lunch and we will take care of it. Please, no donations! This is something that me and my family have done for the past several years, and we want to cover the cost of it. This is just another way we like to help support our community since you guys have been so good to us over the years! #hometownproud
