School is out for summer - You are singing that song now, sorry about that. For families that rely on the school lunch program to ensure their kids get to eat every day, summer is a new source of stress.

Food Bank Support in Indiana

We are fortunate to have some really amazing organizations and volunteers who just want to make sure that no one goes hungry. The Tri-State Food Bank is an amazing resource, and you can find mobile food distribution events on social media.

McKim's IGA - Built By Family, Supported By The Community

The grocery business can be a tough one, especially if you are a small-town grocer. But McKim's IGA in Mt. Vernon, Indiana must be doing something right. The Williams family has had the support of the community for over 30 years.

Secret To Small Town Sucess

My good friend Mandy worked at McKim's when she was younger, and she shared a very important post from Brian Williams of McKim's, along with this quote, "I could not be more proud of my hometown! Working at IGA during high school taught me so much. They have always given back to the community!"

McKim's IGA's Promise to The Community

Most families look forward to summertime while others, who are less fortunate, do not. I can’t imagine the stress some families feel of having to come up with extra money to keep extra food in the house while the kiddos are home for summer break for the next 8 weeks or so. While there are programs out there specially aimed at helping with this, IGA wants to help too. DO NOT GO HUNGRY! If you need something to eat for your kiddos and you cannot make it to one of the other programs in town, for any reason, come by IGA and we will provide you, a peanut butter sandwich, a small bag of chips, and bottled water at no charge! No kid should go without food and we want to join the other programs in making sure this doesn’t happen! No shame, no judging, no questions. See me if you need help! Please share!
