UPDATE: INDOT has now stated that the damage from the incident involving an oversized vehicle has caused more damage than initially thought and that the Pigeon Creek Bridge and subsequent portion of Highway 41 could now be closed for months due to necessary repairs.

If you travel into Evansville via Highway 41 southbound, you likely have already encountered the closure at the Pigeon Creek Bridge. While northbound lanes are open as normal, the southbound lane has been closed after an over-sized struck vehicle the bridge on the afternoon on January 21, 2020. According to a Facebook post from the Evansville Police Department, "INDOT bridge engineers inspect the structure and determine the extent of repairs needed for the bridge to safely reopen." The traffic is being redirected to Diamond Avenue/S.R 66 where drivers can then re-enter highway 41 via the southbound ramp.
