Salsarita’s Fresh Mexican Grill on Morgan Avenue Has Permanently Closed
Another Evansville Restaurant Has Called It Quits
This is never easy news to share, but if Salsarita's on Morgan Avenue was a regular stop for you, you are going to want to know this. We confirmed today that the Salsarita's Fresh Mexican Grill location at 3910 East Morgan Avenue in Evansville has permanently closed its doors.
The owner reached out directly with a statement. This is what they had to say:
"While sales are still very strong it is with great sadness that we have closed the Salsarita's on Morgan Ave in Evansville. The last couple years of highly inflated costs such as utilities, rent, taxes, labor, food costs and insurance has led to this tough conclusion. We want to thank the Evansville community for their nine years of loyal support."
Nine years is a long run, and it says a lot that sales were still strong right up until the end. This closure is not a story about a restaurant that lost its community. It is a story about rising costs that so many small business owners are quietly fighting every single day, and unfortunately this time those costs won. It is a reminder of just how hard it is to keep a restaurant going in this economy, even when people genuinely love what you are doing.
What About Other Locations?
If you are a Salsarita's fan and you are not ready to let go just yet, the Owensboro location at 3500 Villa Point is still open. However, it is worth noting that location is currently being actively marketed for sale, so that is something to keep an eye on going forward. You can also check out salsaritas.com for any updates.
To everyone who got enjoy this Mexican favorite in Evansville and made Salsarita's a regular lunch run, a quick dinner stop, or just a go-to when the burrito craving hit, this one stings a little. Evansville showed up for them for nearly a decade and that loyalty clearly meant everything to the owner. Here is hoping the community that supported them finds a new favorite, and here is hoping the next chapter for that Morgan Avenue space brings something just as good.
