One Year Ago – Evansville Native Lily King & Teammates Win Gold at the Summer Olympic Games

It was one year ago I was watching the Rio Summer Olympics games.  On this very day, August 15th, 2016, Evansville native Lily King was swimming her way to Gold!    

I remember the event was the 400-meter medley relay with Lily's teammates:  Kathleen Baker, Dana Vollmer, and Simone Manuel.  I also remember shouting at the television and jumping up and down spilling my popcorn all over the floor 'cause I was so happy their team won this event!  It was also the 1,000th Olympic Gold Medal for Lily King and her teammates. Woo Hoo!

What has Lily been up to lately?

Just a month ago in Budapest, Hungary at the World Championship games, Lily King beat her rival, Russian swimmer Yulia Efimova in the 100 Breast World Championship by breaking the world record by .22 seconds.  She wins Gold again!  Congratulations Lily! We're all so proud of you here in Evansville and at My 105.3 WJLT!
