Boy Scout Troop 399, based out of Sacred Heart Church on Evansville's west side, is ready for another season of providing the centerpiece for your holiday decorations.

The lot, one the largest and longest running in Southern Indiana, will take up nearly every inch of yard space of the church's lot on the corner of Franklin Street and Upper Mt. Vernon Road beginning the day after Thanksgiving, November 24th.

Despite spending a few years as a scout with Troop 399, I don't remember the Boy Scout Oath, nor could I tell you any of the characteristics listed in the Scout Law without Googling them, but I do remember spending several nights each year working the tree lot, helping customers pick just the right tree and carrying it to their car. Sitting around the fire at the front of the lot when business was slow, and the ground was covered with snow, or walking the aisles made from wood posts and wires, standing trees back up that had fallen over.

The lot is open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sundays thru Fridays, and 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturdays, selling balsam pine and frasier fir. Christmas wreaths are also available.

All proceeds go right back into the troop, helping them fund activities, troops, and purchase equipment.
