The Evansville Department of Parks & Recreation recently shared some exciting news about Garvin Park, one of the city's most well-known areas. They announced plans for a brand new playground, including new safety surfacing - an addition that guests to the park would say is way overdue.

This playground is the first step towards creating an Activity Zone at Garvin Park which will eventually include new basketball courts, a modern restroom building, and a spacious shelter for gatherings. All of this is thanks to the $24 million Parks Bond passed late last year.

Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry is all in on this transformation...

Garvin Park has been a special part of our city for generations, and this project is just the beginning of bringing new life to this beloved space. Everyone deserves safe, beautiful parks where families can play, gather, and make memories. Thanks to the Parks Bond, we’re finally able to make some of the improvements our community has been asking for and give our neighborhoods the parks they deserve.
