Two Southern Indiana Schools Named 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona has just announced the 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools, and it's a reason to celebrate! This year, 356 outstanding schools have earned this prestigious recognition, including two schools here in Southern Indiana.

Congratulations to Oak Hill Elementary School in Evansville, and Saint Wendel Catholic School in Wadesville for being recognized as 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education. Representatives from both schools will take part in an award ceremony on November 7th and 8th in Washington, D.C. Both schools also plan to host their own celebrations.

“The National Blue Ribbon Schools Award is a testament to the exceptional achievements of students and educators at each of these schools,” says Secretary Cardona. He highlighted how these schools are raising the bar for students across the country, serving as shining examples of what can happen when effective teaching, collaboration, and community involvement come together. These schools aren't just about success; they’re models of innovation, inspiring educators and communities everywhere.

There are two types of National Blue Ribbon Schools:

• Exemplary High Performing Schools, which are among the top performers in their state.
• Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools, which are leading the way in narrowing the achievement gap among student groups.
