Tucked just 8 miles north of downtown Indianapolis is a prosperous little place that was recently named the richest small town in Indiana. It’s called Meridian Hills, and it checks all of the boxes for this list. It’s small and there is plenty of money.

Why Meridian Hills Stands Out

To the outside observer, there is nothing “special” about Meridian Hills. The small town isn’t trying to show off or seem bigger than it is. It’s a quiet place, full of tree-lined streets with beautiful homes that seem like they belong on a postcard. Residents of Meridian Hills enjoy the perfect mix of peace and convenience – relaxing in their own little oasis, but knowing that downtown Indianapolis is just a short drive away.

Meridian Hills' Impressive Income and Home Values

How about some more numbers? These will either impress or depress you (maybe a little of both). Almost half of the households in Meridian Hills bring in six figures. The average household income is $315,086 – that’s way higher than Indiana’s average of about $88,805. Nearly half of the households have an annual income of $200,000 or more, and the median home value is just over $648,400. Needless to say, this is a community that’s doing really, really well.
