Warning: Apple Juice Sold in Southern Indiana Recalled – Contains Arsenic
Well, talk about a bad apple, nobody wants arsenic in their apple juice. This brand is sold at Kroger, Target, Walmart, Ruler Foods, Big Lots, Costco, and Schnucks stores.
How Did Arsenic Get in the Apple Juice?
I had no idea that there is an amount of arsenic in a lot of food and drink products. The FDA has set guidelines for what is safe for us to consume.
Arsenic may be present in food because it is in the environment where foods are grown, raised, or processed. Exposure to inorganic arsenic is associated with adverse human health effects, including cancer, diabetes, adverse birth outcomes, and cardiovascular and neurodevelopmental effects. It is not possible to entirely remove arsenic from the environment or from the food supply. Therefore, the FDA sets action levels when a level of a contaminant is unavoidable, to inform the industry of the level of contamination.
