But did you know some cities have earned a reputation for their especially impolite residents? A 2024 study by Preply revealed the rudest cities in America, and shockingly, Louisville, Kentucky ranked near the top! According to the study, Americans most frequently encounter rude behaviors like a lack of self-awareness (92.18%), talking loudly on speakerphone in public spaces, and ignoring basic social courtesies. Behaviors like these are what contribute to a city’s “rudeness” factor. Interestingly, 88.43% of people prefer to ignore rudeness, while only 11.49% confront it head-on.

How Did Louisville, Kentucky Make the Top 5?

It turns out that Louisville made waves this year by ranking 4th in the nation for its impolite residents. Many factors contributed to this ranking, including incidents of improper phone etiquette, lack of care for others, and being loud in shared spaces. These behaviors are all too common in many urban areas, but Louisville stood out for all the wrong reasons.
