New Boonville Aquatic Center Opens This Weekend

Growing up, I lived out in the country. That, coupled with the fact that my mom hated hot weather, meant driving into town to go swimming at the public pool was pretty much out of the question.

So my parents did the next best thing. They bought one of those little seasonal Intex pools and set it up in the backyard.

Goodness, my friends and I spent hours in that pool. It was only about three or four feet deep and maybe 20 feet across, but it was wet, and that's all that mattered. We did have to dodge those big, ugly horse flies every now and then, but it was worth it.

It wasn't until I got my first apartment that I had a pool of my own again. I remember thinking, this is the life. I spent countless afternoons floating around and soaking up the sun.

These days, though, I'm back to being pool-less.

Luckily, there's a brand new, state-of-the-art aquatic center opening today in Boonville, and we couldn't be more excited!

Boonville Aquatic Center Officially Opens

After some construction delays, the new Boonville Aquatic Center is officially opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday. Even if Mother Nature isn't exactly cooperating today, plenty of sunny swimming days are ahead.

The new aquatic center features:

An Olympic-size outdoor pool
Two waterslides
A 10,000-square-foot pavilion
Two splash pads
Zero-depth entry into the pool
Playground equipment
Expanded parking
Additional restroom facilities
Three rentable party rooms

Hours for Opening Weekend
Friday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday: 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Private party begins at 6 p.m.)
Sunday: Noon to 6 p.m.

What You Need to Know Before You Go

Before you pack up the swimsuits and towels, here are a few things to keep in mind:

No outside food or drinks are permitted.
Concessions will be available for purchase.
Admission is $5 per person for a day pass.
A 20-admission season pass is $85.
Credit and debit cards are accepted.
Regular hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
Daily swim breaks for lifeguards take place at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Boonville Aquatic Center will be open to both public and private parties. Rates vary. To reserve a party room, email aquaticevents@boonville.in.gov.
Employment applications are available at Boonville City Hall.
The staff have not announced a closing date yet, but believe it will be in September 2026.
