The publication recommends beginning your visit with a ride on Madison's trolley to learn about the city's rich history and admire landmarks like the Broadway Fountain before spending time exploring the antique stores, specialty shops, and boutiques that line Main Street.

When it's time to eat, Travel + Leisure highlights Hinkie's Sandwich Shop, a Madison staple that's been serving burgers and milkshakes since 1933, along with River Oak Chophouse for visitors looking for a more upscale dining experience.
