Photos Reveal Abandoned Missouri Prison Before It Vanished
If these walls could have talked, you likely wouldn't like what they had to say. New photos and videos reveal the watery remains of an abandoned St. Louis, Missouri prison captured before it vanished forever.
I just came across this very recent video shared by Ruin Road on YouTube of what used to be the Medium Security Institution in St. Louis, Missouri. Many referred to it as "The Workhouse". Here's how they described their adventure:
"This prison was notorious for inhumane conditions and abuse, with officers even said to hold gladiator style matches between inmates. For years, activists fought to get it shut down. While the city decided what to do with the property, a pipe would burst and flood the entire building"

According to a story from Fox 2 in St. Louis, the Medium Security Institution was set for demolition by the end of 2024. I remember seeing reports of protests from many groups who wanted this place shut down years ago. They eventually got their wish, but probably not in the way they imagined. Now, it's just a bad memory for those who served their time there and tragic for those who allegedly abused those held within its sad walls.
