New Train Attraction Coming To Indiana State Fair

The 2026 Indiana State Fair runs from August 7th through August 23rd (closed Mondays), and this year, the fair is (literally) rolling out a new attraction that will move guests across the fairgrounds in a whole new way.

A New Way to Explore the Indiana State Fairgrounds

Instead of walking from one end of the grounds to the other, fairgoers can now climb aboard one of two new trains that will take you on a leisurely 15-minute trip around the fairgrounds.

Each train can carry about 90 passengers and will travel along a one-mile loop before returning to a newly built depot where riders will board and exit. Along the way, guests can sit back, take a break from the summer heat, and enjoy views of the fair from a whole new angle.

The train is part of the fair's ongoing effort to improve the guest experience for the thousands of Hoosiers and visitors from across the Midwest who will come to Indianapolis this summer. Think of it as a kind of human pit stop – letting you rest and refuel before continuing a packed day of food, exhibits, concerts, animals, and midway rides.

How Much Does the Train Cost?

Rides will cost just $5 per person, and guests can even use their midway tickets to climb aboard, making it an affordable option for families looking to take a break between attractions.
