Illinois Couple Uses Michael Myers to ‘Scare’ Up Interest in Real Estate Listing [PHOTOS]

I remember when John Carpenter's Halloween was released, and just like Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 masterpiece Psycho, this 1978 classic announced the arrival of new ways to scare the crap out of audiences.

It was the birth of the "slasher film." ALSO like Hitchcock's mindblower, Halloween was free of anything supernatural. The idea that "this could really happen" was amplified even more so because it was set in an ordinary neighborhood, with ordinary characters playing out ordinary situations...until a crazed serial killer plows through fictional Haddonfield, Illinois with a butcher knife.

MICHAEL MYERS DOES NOT COME WITH THE HOUSE

Perhaps it's because Halloween was set in Illinois that a NON-fictional couple also from the Land of Lincoln got the idea to use that movie's legendary villain Michael Myers for their real estate listing. Regardless, it's an ingenious idea.

Danielle and Owen Sullivan live in Carlinville, Illinois which is about an hour north of St. Louis. The house has been listed for 17 days and, according to WAVE3-Louisville, they have been "scaring up" some interest. The listing has gone viral, as you might expect with images like these used to sell their 2,750 square foot home.

I can see Laurie Strode running up the stairs right now, trying to escape. (And as Scream mentioned, why do they always run UPSTAIRS to get away from the killer?)

MICHAEL MYERS AND GOOD HYGIENE

By the way, that's the Sullivans' son in the Michael Myers costume, and he probably had the time of his life. He even proves that, at the VERY least, Michael practices good hygiene.

I don't think the house where Laurie was babysitting in the movie had a basement, or they most certainly would have incorporated it into the movie. But the Sullivan house in Carlinville has one. Plus, I have to wonder if there's a closet in that top-floor room full of wire coat hangers. Hmmm...

It just occurred to me that I haven't shown you the OUTSIDE of the house. (By the way, not all the images in the Zillow listing feature Michael Myers--like this one, for example.)

I have come across--and WRITTEN about--a good many real estate listings over the years, but this one is, hands down, the cleverest one I have ever seen.
