My family and I just got back from a quick trip to St. Louis. This was my first trip back since we toured the St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station and checked out the Soda Fountain. I decided to join a few different Facebook groups to get more ideas about places to visit in St. Louis. One of those had a very touching story, and I had to share it with you.

It all started with a simple question in the Date Ideas & Things to do in STL Facebook group.

Hello! Our son is in the nicu at children’s hospital and this is our 4th weekend eating in St. Louis and we are looking for new places to eat!  ~ Vanessa E.

Along with all of the great suggestions, Vanessa received messages of support, prayers, and some very nice people that wanted to donate money to her family. There was even an offer to eat free at the St. Louis Union Station Soda Fountain.

My name is Sierra and I am the General Manager of Soda Fountain in Union Station. Your meal is on me. If you would like, shoot me an email and I’ll get you taken care of!

The Soda Fountain is a real-deal ice cream and burger shop. I'm talking giant milkshakes, the kind I couldn't have when I was there.

The Admins of the Facebook group noticed what was going on, and decided to pay it forward. Nine of the members dined at the Soda Fountain and very generously tipped their waitress $1000.

Here is what Admin Morgan Casey had to say about this good news:

Tonight was super amazing!! Not sure if you remember when the family posted in the group asking for places to eat near the hospital where their baby was in the nicu… the manager from St. Louis Union Station Soda Fountain offered for the family to come eat for free. It was an extremely touching moment. So tonight we were able to pay it forward back to one of the servers at the same location! We were able to tip our amazing waitress Courtney $1000 tonight!!! All because of strangers coming together from the group. Courtney explained how hard it has been for servers during the pandemic. She was so thankful & even made sure we weren’t doing this because of the wine we had at dinner.
We can’t wait to do this again!
