Celebrating the Future Women of Criminal Justice: A Morning of Empowerment and Inspiration
A Morning of Empowerment and Connection
There’s something powerful happening in Evansville this month—something that celebrates strength, leadership, and the future of women in law enforcement and beyond. As you know, we talk to a member of EPD once a week about what's going on in the community and how they want to help out. Taylor Merriss came in to discuss how she wants to encourage women in the law enforcement field. This synopsis might be perfect for you! The Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center’s Criminal Justice class is hosting its second Future Women of Criminal Justice Symposium on November 18th, and it’s shaping up to be a morning full of inspiration, connection, and empowerment.
A Generation of Future Leaders
This event is especially meaningful because the program has seen an incredible rise in young women pursuing careers in criminal justice. That’s a sign of real change. The symposium aims to recognize these future leaders while honoring the trailblazing women already making a difference in the field today.
Meet the Women Leading the Way
The event will feature an impressive lineup of speakers — women who have paved their own way through determination, resilience, and a passion for justice. From the courtroom to the mayor’s office and from patrol to command, these leaders will share their personal stories and professional insights. Each woman represents a different facet of criminal justice, but all share a common goal of making a difference and inspiring those who will follow in their footsteps.
A Celebration of Community and Connection
After the speaker presentations, attendees will gather for a group photo for a small, powerful reminder of the growing presence of women in criminal justice. They will then enjoy a well-earned brunch prepared by SICTC’s Lunchbox culinary team.
More Than an Event-It’s a Movement
Events like this are more than just a recognition; they’re a movement. When young women see role models in uniforms, behind the bench, or in leadership roles, it tells them: You belong here. You can do this too.
Standing Together for the Future
The Evansville Police Department is proud to support and participate in this inaugural second gathering, celebrating not only the achievements of women currently serving but also those preparing to protect, serve, and lead in the years ahead.
For Every Woman with a Dream to Serve
So, to all the women in law enforcement and those considering the path, this day is for you. Your strength, perspective, and leadership are shaping the future of justice, one powerful step at a time.
